Our first annual Halloween Witch Paddle was a huge success. I can’t believe it’s taken us so long to create this tradition! I noticed communities carrying out this event in places such as upstate New York and North Carolina a while back. It seemed like such a fun idea, and I thought it would be perfect for Rincon. This Halloween, as a last-minute plan, we decided to finally call on our witches to come through for a paddle. Dressed in capes and black hats, our witches took our paddleboards and made their way around the marina. After seeing the turnout, especially on such short notice, I believe we must all have a witch somewhere within us!
When I first came to Rincon, I was surprised that Halloween was such a huge celebration. People were dressing up in outstanding costumes, and there were parties everywhere. As someone who used to DJ tons of events in NYC and Rincon back in the day, I loved seeing the energy and creativity happening amongst the locals. Dressing up to be someone different is always so entertaining and hilarious.
Even though we organized this year’s Witch Paddle at the last minute, I was surprised by how many people, specifically women, wanted to participate. Even men were asking how they could be involved. It would look awesome to have men turn up as magicians or Dracula, paddling amongst all the witches. With more time to plan for next year, we aim to have an even bigger turnout. Witches, be ready!
Now that Halloween has ended, it’s time to start the Christmas season. Did you know in Puerto Rico, it is a tradition to put your tree up right after Halloween? If you’ve never celebrated Christmas here, stay tuned for the biggest (and longest) party season of the year!
And a very special thank you to Ghost Edits PR for capturing this event!
